PAWTUCKET, RI - J. Chester Kurowski 100, formerly of Suffolk Avenue passed away Wednesday January 26, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Pelagia ( Szuchta ) Kurowski.
Born in Lawrence, MA, he was a son of the late Bronislaw and Julianna ( Cebula ) Kurowski. He lived in Pawtucket, RI for 66 years and was formerly of Manville, RI.
Before retiring Chester was employed as a Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years working in Pawtucket, RI and Cumberland, RI. He was a past President and Treasurer for the local Postal Workers Union. Mr. Kurowski was a WWII Army Veteran serving with the 455th field artillery Co. He served in the South Pacific and the Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart with one star for being wounded twice. He was a fiercely Independent Man with a Fighting Spirit.
He is survived by his loving family, two sons David C. Kurowski and his wife Kathleen of North Kingstown, RI and Mark Kurowski of Montana. Chester also leaves two devoted grandsons, Andrew Kurowski and his wife Meredith, also Alec Kurowski and his wife Katie along with five great grandchildren, Satya, Juniper, Ophelia, Fiona and Josephine Kurowski.
A funeral with Military Honors will be held Monday January 31, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church 391 High High Street Central Falls, RI at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.Calling hours Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
