CUMBERLAND - James W. "JIM" Kaplan, 72, passed away Friday August 14, 2015 at Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor I. (Graham) Kaplan. Born in Central Falls he was a son of the late Walter A. and Pauline (Vasiliev) Kaplan. He was a life long resident of Cumberland. Before retiring he was employed by Clifford Metals as a Machine Operator and prior to that at he was employed by Newman Crosby Steel. Jim was a Vietnam era Marine Corp veteran serving with the 3rd Marine Division as a Lance Corporal. He was a member of A.L. Post #14 and the Filibuster Club both of Cumberland and the 3rd Marine Division Association. He leaves one loving daughter Beth A. Kaplan and one cherished granddaughter Jamie L. Kaplan both of Cumberland, two sisters Joan McKee of Flower Mound, TX and Shirley Swiech and her husband Anthony of East Falmouth, MA, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William A. "BILL" Kaplan. A Funeral with Military Honors will be held Tuesday August 18, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home, 342 High Street, Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church 3609 Diamond Hill Road Cumberland at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
