PAULA (SIENKIEWICZ) BABIEC

Paula (Sienkiewicz) Babiec of East Providence, RI passed away peacefully on February 4th at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence, RI after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was 81 years old.

Paula grew up in Central Falls, RI and was employed as a Deputy Sheriff in Providence County for 28 years before retiring in 2003.  She was the daughter of the late John S. Sienkiewicz, a Central Falls City Councilor and Stella (Lebida) Sienkiewicz of Central Falls, RI.  She was the sister of the late John Sienkiewicz Jr. and sister-in-law to Pauline Sienkiewicz of Bristol, RI.

Paula is survived by two daughters, Gina Coute (Douglas) of North Dighton, MA and Susan Faria (Sam) of Seekonk, MA and her two loving granddaughters, Julia Coute and Ali Faria.  She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Paula was an outspoken advocate for the empowerment of women.  She was often quoted as saying “Nothing in life is certain, always be able to take care of yourself should life throw you a curveball.”   She was a lifelong Democrat and was very passionate about supporting others in their time of need.  Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.  She was especially proud of her two granddaughters, taking joy in her role as “Babci” and sharing their many milestones and accomplishments.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12th from 4-7pm at Karol A. Romenski and Sons Funeral Home, 342 High Street, Central Falls, RI.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name can be made to Stand Up to Cancer (https://standuptocancer.org)
