Sophie K. Herchel, 91, of Cumberland passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence.  She was the beloved wife of Zygmunt  "Zeke" Herchel, and they had been married for the past 64 years.

Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Ignac and Mary (Szydlo) Skrzyniarz.  She resided in Cumberland for the past 64 years, previously residing in Central Falls. 

Mrs. Herchel was employed as a factory worker for Hindley Manufacturing Inc. for 33 years until her retirement.

Sophie was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Central Falls.  She enjoyed bowling, polka dancing, but most of all spending time with her family. 

In addition to her husband, she leaves her sister, Dolores Plouffe of Glocester; as well as many nieces and nephews.   She was the sister of the late Stella Burda and John Skrzyniarz.

Her funeral and burial will be private.
