Thomas Mark Carty, a lifelong Pawtucket resident, recently died at the age of 68. He was born
on January 13, 1955, the son of James Vincent Carty Sr. and Anne (Szewczuk) Carty. Tom
graduated from Tolman High School and the RI School of Electronics. He worked for many years
at American Insulated Wire in Mansfield, MA and later at Triangle Wire and Teknor Apex in
Pawtucket. Tom was an ardent fan of baseball and a gifted amateur player in his youth helped
by his better than average vision. He took many trips throughout New England (and some really
fast trips on I-95) on his trusty Suzuki. He is survived by his sisters Jacqueline Carty Merrill-
Matzner and Joyce Carty Better, and by his brother Dennis M. Carty. His brother James V. Carty
Jr. predeceased him in 2012. He also leaves his nephews Oliver Merrill and Holden Better and
his niece E. Violet Better. Thomas also leaves several cousins. Please omit flowers.
